Many of our County parks now have use restrictions and guidelines.  Additional safety protocols are now in place for Pitch In For Parks including pre-registration to reserve your spot and the limit of 15 volunteers.


Thank you for your understanding as we continue to support efforts to contain COVID-19 and protect the health of our customers, employees, and community.

Pitch in for Parks is a volunteer based program offered through the partnership of Pierce County Parks and McLendon Hardware. Pitch in for Parks a great opportunity for all ages and abilities (ages 15 and under with guardian) to pitch in and help your community. Join us rain or shine!

Giving Tree Events - Celebrate South Sound Earth Day 2020!


Pitch In For Parks is teaming with South Sound Earth Day 2020 to provide free trees for our volunteers. Can't make it to volunteer and would like a tree, just stop by one of the Giving Tree Events on the following dates:


  • October 17 at Naches Trail Preserve
  • November 21 at Meridian Habitat Park

- Till the ground today for the flowers of tomorrow! We will be weeding our flowerbeds to prepare for spring.

Old Settler Cemetery:
- Howling for all volunteers! Come convene with us in the cemetery to remove blackberry and ivy. It’s going to be a terrifyingly (shocking, screamingly) good time.

- We’re back at Parkland Prairie! Check out the new preserve expansion, pull some Scotch Broom, plant some oak trees and take one home to enjoy.

- Tree planting with Santa. Looking to spread and give holiday cheer? Come join Santa in planting and caring for trees around the park. Each Santa helper will receive a free potted evergreen to take home.

- Tree Planting with Santa! Help Santa plant trees and receive your very own potted 2-foot evergreen for the holidays.

Come out for one or all of our Pitch in for Parks events

While we supply the tools, we ask volunteers to dress appropriately for weather conditions, bring gloves and the willingness to get dirty for this community service activity.  Volunteers should also remember to:


  • Bring your own work gloves
  • Bring water and snacks
  • Bring and wear a face covering at all times
  • Only use assigned tools while wearing gloves
  • Please work within the assigned workstation
  • Maintain at least 6-feet from others outside your household

To comply with current Safe Start regulations each Pitch in for Parks will have limited registration and is not open to drop-in volunteers at this time. 


Pre-Registration:

Volunteers are welcome to Pitch In for an hour or two or the entire time and must pre-register to reserve your spot, spaces are limited:


  • Pre-register by selecting the Saturday Date of interest
  • Registration closes by 12:00 p.m. (noon) the Friday before the listed Saturdays
