New stormwater requirements

Pierce County residents and developers can comment on changes to the county’s stormwater permit. This permit, issued and administered by Washington State Department of Ecology, directs the county to plan for and regulate stormwater management programs during and after development.

In August, The Department of Ecology (Ecology) released the Draft 2019–2024 Municipal General Stormwater and State Waste Discharge Permit for public comment. The document adopted by Ecology will influence and direct the county’s stormwater regulations and programs into the future.
