Crisis Recovery Center Project Update

Planning for the new Crisis Recovery Center is well underway. This 9,600-square-foot secure facility will serve up to 16 patients experiencing a mental health crisis in the Parkland/Spanaway area.  It will be located at 1420 – 112th Street East in Tacoma.


Current Project Milestones:

  • The Pierce County Council approved its portion of funding last August, and all other funding is in place.
  • The Mid-County Land Use Advisory Committee (LUAC) unanimously approved the project on July 9, 2019.
  • The project has been publicly advertised for construction bids. A pre-bid walk-through for Contractors interested in bidding was held on July 17, 2019.

Future Project Milestones:

  • The Mid County LUAC will make their recommendation before the Hearing Examiner on July 24, 2019.
  • The Hearing Examiner is expected to make their determination within a week.
  • Following the Hearing Examiner’s determination, the public will have 2 weeks to appeal the determination.
  • Bids are due August 2nd. Award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
  • Notice to proceed is expected in late summer or early fall.
